How
to Become a Mentor
WHY
BE A MENTOR?
If you are
a “seasoned professional”,
enjoy what you do, and have a passion for
your art and industry, you probably would
love to mentor an apprentice.
The reasons you may have for even considering
being a mentor could be a list as long and
varied as the benefits gained by becoming
one. But for us, the reason why we would
want someone like you to mentor a candidate/applicant
of ours is quite simple.
We believe
that you, a seasoned working professional
are much, much more able to help get someone “into the biz” than
any school - anywhere, at any price. If you
believe as we do, the following might interest
you.
WHO ARE WE?
The Apprentice-Mentor Association is a network
of over 5,000 fellow professionals and participants
throughout the U.S. and Canada, and now expanding
worldwide - an association built during the
last thirty years.
Started initially
to help aspiring broadcasters, it now offers
on-the-job, one-on-one training in Radio/TV,
Recording, Video, Film, and other specialized
fields to help overcome that old Catch
22 - "You can't get a
job without experience and you can't get
experience without a job".
Each month
we get thousands of visitors to our website.
We screen through those who apply as potential
candidates to refer to you the one who
is right. You, of course, make the final
selection and we encourage you to advise
us of any candidate you don’t
feel confident you would be effective with.
The interview is directed towards this question:
Given a lot of effort and dedication by the
candidate, can you develop this person to
the point of entry level employment - weekend
shift, late night, vacation relief?
If your answer
is “Yes”, the
applicant can be accepted into the Apprentice
- Mentor program.
